Frederick E. Fischer Frederick Ethan Fischer was born May 5, 1942, in Washington, D.C. He spent his early youth in the Washington area, moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1954, where he graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Pittsburgh. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Michigan. Fischer was, at various times, a lawyer, actor, editor, broadcast journalist and an educator. For the twenty years prior to his death, he taught English and creative writing at Shepherd University. He was, reputedly, an accomplished poet and writer.
