Jonathan Dorr Bradley attended Yale College and graduated in the class of 1822. He read for the bar and took up the practice of law in Bellows Falls, Vermont. He later moved to Battleboro, Vermont, where he practiced law and involved himself in civic affairs. [Source: Bradley Family Papers, Radcliffe College]

Bradley's father, William Czar Bradley, was also a lawyer and a poet.
