"Doyle, Richard Devereux, lawyer, poet, was born Oct. 8, 1850, in Norfolk, Va. After receiving the degree of bachelor of law at the university of Virginia, and graduating in moral philosophy and logic, he went to Indianapolis, and there practiced law and edited a weekly newspaper. He lately became assistant attorney-general of the state of Indiana. . . . His poems have been incorporated into several standard works."
