"Born: Ossian, N.Y., June 25, 1953. After attending the state normal school of Genesco for several years, Chauncey when taught school. Mr. Jencks rote both poetry and prose for the Schoolday Magazine, which was afterward absorbed by t he St. Nicholas Magazine. He has contributed quite extensively to the Dansville Advertiser, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Detroit Tribute and the Chicago Inter-Ocean. Commencing the study of law in 1881, he was subsequently admitted to the bar, and has since been actively engaged in the practice of that profession at Kalkaska, Michigan. Mr. Jencks was married in 1992 5o Miss Nettie M. Kellogg. He was school examiner for eight years of Kalkaska county." [Thos. W.
