"Mr. Webb, a native of Henderson, Nev., graduated from Glendale High School and served three years in the late 1960s in VISTA, the domestic peace corps, working with street youths iin East St. Louise, Harvey and Chicago Heights.

Mr. Webb served as editor of the literary journa at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and graduated from there in 1972. He earned his law degree in 1980 at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.

While he worked as a public defender in the juvenile divsion [of the Circuit Court of Cook County] he also handled pro bono cases for indigent clients and continued his writing. [In 1988] he went to Mexico to work on a novel and on other pieces that include an article on juvenile court."

"He was on leave ofabsence in Mexico to devote more time to writing . . . [when he] died Nov. 7 in San Miquel de Allende, Mexico, after a brief illness."
