"BOWDITCH, Nathaniel Ingersoll, lawyer, b. Salem, Mass., 1805; d. Boston, Mass., 1861. He entered Harvard at thirteen, graduated in 1822, and lived in Boston. His memoir of his father, the mathematician and astronomer, was published in 1839, in the same volume with a translation of Laplace's 'Mécanique Céleste'" [Edmund Clarence Stedman (ed.), An American Anthology 1787-1899 781 (Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1900)]
