Stephen Franklin Davis Stephen F. Davis was a poet and lawyer in Comanche, Texas. He disappeared in May, 1996. Nine months later, on February 6, 1997, his remains was found by a local store owner. Davis was a graduate of Tarleton State University and obtained his law degree from St. Mary's University Law School in 1983. He practiced law in Comanche until he was disbarred in 1989 after pleading guilty to federal charges of helping undocumented works fraudently apply for amnesty. Davis served 18 months on the federal charges. Davis had on-going confrontations with Comanche County sheriff's deputies in the 1990s, and some members of Davis' family asked for a special prosecutor to investigate Mr. Davis's death.
