Maude Edwin Dunaway resided in Conway, Arkansas. He received his B.A. from Hendrix College in 1903, an A.B. from Yale in 1904, and his LL.B. from the University of Arkansas in 1909. He practiced law in Little Rock.

[We learned about M.E. Dunaway from Fred Allsopp, The Poets and Poetry of Arkansas 111-112 (Little Rock, Arkansas: Central Printing Co., 1933). Allsopp notes that Dunaway was born in Faulkner County, Arkansas in 1882, and resided in Little Rock. We have located only one other biographical reference source: W. Stewart Walllace, A Dictionary of North American Authors Deceased before 1950 (Toronto: Ryerson Press, 1951)]
