John F. Gontrum
John F. Gontrum "was born at Gardenville, Baltimore County, Maryland, February 16, 1857, and died at his birthplace, December 27, 1909. He was by profession a lawyer and attained high ran at the Bar of his native State. During leisure intervals he wrote a number of poems . . . ." After his graduation from St. John's College, Annapolis, in 1878, he took up the study of law and was admitted to the Maryland bar in 1880, and from that time until his death he practiced law in Towson, the county seat of Baltimore county . . . .
