Louise Blackmar Hart

Louise Hart was born at Columbus, Georgia, on January 27, 1911, the daughter of William Thomas and Mira (Bullard) Hart. She attended the Hartridge School for Girls in Plainfield, New Jersey, and Vassar College. Hart was a Special Attorney with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Federal Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association, Georgia Society of Colonial Dames of America, and the Junto Club.

June Night in Georgia

Silver crescent of moon
Wrapt in mist,
Rich perfume of bay blossoms
Floating in waves
Of fragrance on the night air,
The chance spark of a firefly
Tearing the velvet duskiness—
Is a June night in Georgia

Dim sparkle of cool waters,
A night bird's cry
Shattering the perfect stillness,
Pale roses faintly visible,
Lacy trceries of tangled trees
In the soft star-light—
Is a June night in Georgia
