Susan Holahan was born in Rochester, New York and now lives in East Middlebury, Vermont. She received her Ph.D. in English and her law degree from Yale University. Her collection of poems, Sister Betty Reads the Whole You, was winner of the 1997 Peregrine Smith Poetry Competition. Her poetry has appeared in Agni, Black Warrior Review, Crazyhorse, Women's Review of Books, and Seneca Review, where she is contributing editor. She also writes fiction and practices law in Connecticut. She taught writing at Yale and the University of Rochester and has worked as an editor at Newsday and the Yale University Press.
