H. Eugene Johnson H. Eugene Johnson was born August 26, 1927; he died September 10, 2007. In his obituary, Stephanie Hays, a St. Petersburg Times staff writer notes that he wrote some 3,000 poems. Johnson served in the Navy in World War II , and after the war, concerned about how people in groups lose their values, became an ordained minister in the Disciples of Christ faith.
