James McNeill Johnson "dean of the local bar and a writer of note" [source: "Poet Laurete of Moore County is Dead at Aberdeen," Burlington Daily Times (North Carolina), Dec, 26, 1930, p.1] James McNeill Johnson was born January, 28 1860 at Wagram, North Carolina in Moore County. He was admitted to the bar in 1898. He graduated from Wake Forest University law school. He was married to Annie Betsy Cockman. Johnson died on December 25, 1930 at age 70. Poetry J. MacN.
