Frederick Gilman Koenig, Jr.

Frederick Koenig was born October 1, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College in 1935 and his law degree from Harvard University in 1938. He practiced law in Birmingham until he entered the Army during WW II, serving in the infantry for four years. He received a Bronze Star, leaving service with the rank of captain.

Returning to Birmingham after he war, he began work in 1946 with Alabama By-Products, and remained with the company the remainder of his life. Koenig served on various corporate boards and as director of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and the Better Busisness Bureau. He died in Birmingham on April 9, 1978.
