"Edward H. Lathrop. Born at Springfield, Dec. 2, 1837. Mr. Lathrop was educated in the public schools and the Springfield English and Classical Institute. He studied law in Montpelier, Vt., and was admitted to the Hampden bar in 1859. He has been much in politics, having served the city as alderman and in the lower house of the legislature. He was subsequently state senator and district attorney."
