Henry Clay MacKrell Henry C. MacKrell was born on Jnuary 9, 1836 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was living in Brooklyn, New York at the time of his death. MacKrell's will makes reference to his writings, prose and poetry, and that he had written under the names: Richard Allan Bradford, Allan Bradford, A.B., H.C. MacKrell, and H.C.M. "and possibly others." He also published poetry credited only to "Pittsburgh in Poetry." [Source: Henry Clay MacKrell] There is a brief reference in Biographical Review: Containing Life Sketches of Leading Citizens of Pittsburgh and the Vicinity (Boston: Biographical Review Pub. Co., 1897) to the fact that Henry C. MacKrell was admitted to the bar in 1861, and practiced law in Pittsburgh for a short time with his cousin, Smith Archibald Johnston (1839- ), before he moved to Brooklyn. |
