E.M. Mason "[r]ead law in the office of VanSyckel & Wells in 1888 and was admitted to the bar of Crawford county in 1889. Mr. Mason has a college education and is a natural student. He followed the vocation of teaching until late in life he took up the law. He . . . held the office of justice of the peace in the city of Girard and has taken an active part in politics. Now holds the office of deputy district clerk . . . . He is one of the best stump speakers in the county and is thoroughly familiar with the political history of the country."
