J.G. Severance In William H. Kngiht (ed.), Hand-book Almanac for the Pacific States (San Francisco: H.H. Bancroft, 1864), Severance is list as the District Attorney for San Andreas, California. We find several references in historical materials to his poems (including an exerpt from one of his poems in John Nelsen Smith's On the Science of Sensibility, (Intelligence,) or Siimple Elment of Soul; and the Spirit of Life and Origin of Species, and Natural Cause of the Constancy of Each Species to Its Type 21-22 (London: Trübner & Co., 1873), where Severance is said to be "of Sacramento, California." |
