"For five years Mr. Smith taught school in Pennsylvania and for one year in Minnesota. He studied law in the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. In 1885 Mr. Smith was married to Miss Esther J. Pitkin of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has two children: Margaret G., born in 1887, and William Boyce, born in 1889. Samuel H. Smith is now engaged in the active practice of law at Baxter Springs, Kansas . . . ." [Thomas W.
