Joseph Whitla Stinson

(1885-1954)

J.W. Stinson had a reputation as being a "colorful lawyer." He was also a poet and landscape artist.

Stinson was born in New York. He studied architecture, civil engineerying and law at columbia University. He served in the State Department as a lawyer in the Latin-American Division.

Stinson was a water colorist and exhibited his works in musems in Washington, New York, Chicago and Philadephia. He studied art in Rome.
