John Emory Troutman "John Emory Troutman was born in Fulton County, Ind., in 1851. He taught in the Fulton County public school for twenty-two years. Admitted to the Indiana bar, he served as a justice of the peace for forty-five years. Troutman performed over 1,500 marriages and was known as a 'marrying squire.' He acquired the sobriquet the 'Poet of Lake Manitou' because he developed real estate along the lake shore and mentioned it in much of his poetry. He was also in the insurance business and died on Dec. 12. 1931." [Donald E.
