William Lawrence Woods William Woods grew up in Jonesboro, Georgia, and attended Emory University. After college he taught history in the Clayton County School District for four years and then undertook the study of law at Georgia State University School of Law. After being admitted to the Georgia Bar, Woods practiced law in Jonesboro until he co-founded MACE, a legal services organization that represents teachers.
